A Kick Start Meeting for the Inclusion of Micro and Small Enterprises in the Sustainable Tourism Value Chain in Miches

This month has proven to be quite monumental for the BID/FOMIN project, the 36-month development project which will organically certify 300-500 agricultural producers and will establish 5-10 micro and small businesses (MSEs) to supply goods and services to Tropicalia and other anchor companies. Not only did we officially kick off the project via an all-day workshop with BID/FOMIN representatives,  but we are also happy to announce that Roberto Calcaño, Fundación Tropicalia’s Leader of Community Programs, will now take on a new role as the Coordinator for this project, known as Inclusion of Micro and Small Enterprises in the Sustainable Tourism Supply Chain.

Roberto began working with FT in 2012, and has been highly effective in leading our school repair, sustainable agriculture and other community development programs. Prior to joining the FT, Roberto served as the Office and Business Manager of Banco Ademi in Miches, a leading microfinance institution in the Dominican Republic, and has more than 5 years of experience in working in the microfinance, agricultural and rural development sectors. We welcome Roberto to his new role and look forward to watching the project unfold.
