The Cisneros and Tropicalia Foundations are pleased to announce the completion of the current phase of successfully implementing the Piensa en arte education platform in the 12-04 school district in Miches. Piensa en arte supports teachers in fostering critical, analytic thinking and problem-solving skills in students. Fundación Tropicalia coordinates Piensa en arte initiatives in Miches, with weekly visits to teachers’ classrooms aiding with the advancement of the program. Finalizing the 2011-2012 academic year, nine teachers successfully applied the Piensa en arte platform in their classroom, conveying to students interdisciplinary connections between art, math, Spanish language and the social science curriculums. The teachers’ in-depth understanding of Piensa en arte is a fundamental factor in its success with students. For the programming’s’ fruition, three phases of coordinator support for teachers were determined, with the goal of teachers independently using the initiatives’ tools and strategies in the classroom, and eventually becoming Piensa en arte ambassadors along with other teachers and administrators in the district.
