Youth Development & Cultural Identity

We transform the social fabric of Miches by strengthening the identity of its youth and dismantling the barriers that limit their vision of the future. Our work encourages children and adolescents to build life paths free of prejudice and to embrace their local culture as an essential part of who they are. Our commitment is to ensure that new generations of Miches define the region’s trajectory, serving as the primary catalysts of profound and equitable sociocultural change.

For Our Girls

Soy niña, soy importante

Since 2013, this multidisciplinary initiative works with more than 350 at-risk girls and adolescents from 9 to 18 years old every year. Our programs cultivate a generation of confident, self-determined leaders by equipping girls with the knowledge and life skills to make informed decisions about their futures, as they navigate challenges such as gender-based violence and early pregnancy.

For Our Boys

Guardianes de Miches

An innovative program that speaks to the boys and men of Miches, addressing the necessary evolution of traditional gender norms towards a more equitable and balanced society. It was developed following an in-depth baseline study where over 180 boys and men from Miches participated. The program was designed to promote a culture of empathy and emotional awareness in young boys, helping them understand their own identity, reinforce social awareness, foster tolerance of different viewpoints, and build healthy relationships, all in a safe space where they can confidently share ideas and experiences.

Miches Vibrante

A comprehensive variety of initiatives dedicated to preserving Miches' rich cultural identity and local authenticity by actively celebrating and promoting its living traditions. These efforts foster deep social cohesion by creating accessible, community-led spaces where cultural knowledge is shared with the newer generation. To ensure these traditions endure, we directly support local artists and leaders who organize events such as the annual Carnaval, Los Patronales, Los Atabales, local fairs, and more.
