Fundación Tropicalia has been selected as one of the beneficiary organizations of the Airbnb Community Fund, a $100 million initiative launched in 2020 to directly support local communities around the world. The donation comes in the Fund's fourth year, which this year distributed more than $1.45 million among more than 35 organizations in over 10 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean.

Thanks to this contribution, Fundación Tropicalia will be able to establish and equip a new center, hire staff, and launch ongoing development programs for girls, boys, and adolescents in Miches. The funds will support workshops on health, wellbeing, and job skills, aimed at improving quality of life and opportunities for the community.

Sofía Perazzo, President of Fundación Tropicalia, highlighted the impact of this donation:

"The Airbnb Community Fund donation will help us keep making a positive impact on the community through a permanent space where we can deepen the work we've been doing to build skills and contribute to the full development of children and adolescents, and in particular it will allow us to offer a safe space for learning and recreation for the girls and adolescents who take part in our Soy niña, soy importante initiative."

As part of the selection process, Airbnb Hosts—through their local Host Clubs—played an active role in nominating and helping choose the beneficiary organizations, underscoring the direct connection between the Host community and the Fund's local impact.

This new donation builds on the work Fundación Tropicalia has carried out since 2008 in Miches, El Seibo province, in the areas of education, gender equity, economic participation, cultural identity, and environmental awareness, and marks another step forward for the Soy niña, soy importante initiative, which has already directly benefited more than 1,500 girls and adolescents in the region.
